E-Flex is one of eight co-innovation projects to receive part-funding from Innovate UK through its vehicle-to-grid (V2G) real-world demonstrator programme.
Led by Cisco, E-Flex involves a consortium of partners from across technology, academia, energy and the public sector, all of whom bring their own expertise that will help us power tomorrow through V2G.
Learn more about each partner below.
Cisco helps seize the opportunities of tomorrow by proving that amazing things can happen when you connect the unconnected. An integral part of its DNA is creating long-lasting customer partnerships, working together to identify customers' needs and provide solutions that fuel their success.
We have preserved this keen focus on solving business challenges since our founding in 1984. As the lead partner in the E-Flex consortium, Cisco will provide the communications infrastructure and security that will underpin the project.
Cenex was established in 2005 as the UK’s first Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell technologies.
Today, it operates as an independent not-for-profit consultancy specialising in the delivery of projects, supporting innovation and market development, focused on low carbon vehicles and associated energy infrastructure.
Cenex will be integral to the recruitment of trial participants, sites and vehicles in the E-Flex project. It will also be creating the methodology for baselining the sights, on top of conducting site surveys and assessments to support the installation phase.
Nuvve is on a mission to lower the cost of electrical vehicle (EV) ownership while supporting the integration of renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar.
Its Grid Integrated Vehicle platform GIVe™ transforms EVs into grid assets when connected to a smart bi-directional charging station, enabling the aggregation of thousands of electric vehicles into a virtual power plant, and will be used to power the E-Flex fleet.
The Mayor of London is responsible for making London a better place for everyone who visits, lives or works in the city. He provides citywide leadership, setting an overall vision for London and creating plans and policies to achieve it, including transport and environment.
City Hall has one Mayor and 25 Assembly Members who are elected by Londoners. With the support of City Hall's staff they work to make London the best big city in the world.
City Hall will be helping to inform the strategic policy of the project. It will also be helping to recruit electric vehicle fleets and install charge points for fleets to plug in, power up and sell capacity.
Transport for London (TfL) is the integrated transport authority, responsible for the day-to-day operation of the capital's public transport network – including rail networks, the London Underground, trams, buses, cycling provision and river services - and manages London's main roads.
TfL will ensure the project aligns to the Mayor of London’s transport strategy and commitments.
